Millions of years ago, a giant bird roamed the area that is called Argentina today. It was 10 feet tall and weighed up to 400 pounds. It belonged to the “phorusrhacid” or terror bird family. It had a beak like an eagle and ate small animals. Scientists believe that the terror bird was very fleet-footed (that means fast). Imagine if this bird still existed today! If you lived in Argentina you would have to carry a shotgun with you when you walked to school.
